Special Fall Snapper Season at Alabama’s Gulf Coast – Bigger and Better Than Ever
Day 3: Captain Kathy Broughton Is Tough Fishing Near Shore on Alabama’s Gulf Coast
Editor’s Note: Every weekend from October 1 until 12:01 am on November 22 this fall, anglers can catch and keep their limits of red snapper on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. But there’s more than just snapper biting. This week we’ll talk to captains in Orange Beach about the trips they’ve taken at the first of snapper season. You can see just what red snapper season will be like for you and your family, if you head to Alabama’s Gulf Coast during October and November. For more information on fishing guides and charter boats, lodging accommodations, restaurants and entertainment on Alabama's Gulf Coast, call Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism at 800-745-SAND (7263), or go to www.orangebeach.com. You also can get a fishing report three times each week by checking-out the "What's Biting?" column at www.orangebeach.com/fishing/biting/.
Captain Kathy Broughton of the charter boat “Kitty Wake” is waging war on the Spanish mackerel, redfish, flounder and king mackerel just outside Perdido Pass along the front beaches of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Right now, the fall run of big Spanish mackerel, giant king mackerel, big bull redfish, and flounder the size of door mats is in full swing. The speckled trout are also beginning to move-down into the bays, and trout fishing is heating-up. But today we’ll let Captain Kathy and Jay Smith tell us about a new shore trip they had along Alabama’s Gulf Coast the first weekend of red snapper season.
