MORE SASKATCHEWAN MONSTER BUCKS WITH GARDEN RIVER OUTFITTERS

John Phillips’ Story

Click to enlargeEditor’s Note: Garden River Outfitters in Saskatchewan truly is a unique experience. Each one of the five days I hunted, I saw three to eight bucks that would have scored from 110 to 130 on Boone & Crockett. I could have taken a buck any one of those five days. I didn’t take a buck, however because I was waiting on a special one, but I just didn’t see him. I’m not disappointed though because I did get to see a timber wolf at 50 yards for the first time in my life, and what a thrill that was. I got to watch the wolf for a good 8 to 10 minutes, an experience few other hunters get to have.

I Click to enlargeput my riflescope on four different levels, but I kept thinking I would see a bigger buck. I saw one of the biggest-bodied bucks I’d ever seen, and he looked as big as a boxcar, but he just didn’t have the running gear on top that I wanted. Would I go back again? Yes, in a heartbeat. The food was great, the accommodations were comfortable, and the crew did all they could to help make my hunt successful and enjoyable.

Click to enlargeI like the wilderness; I like the beauty and the adventure of being so far away from civilization you don’t even hear any airplanes. The woods in Saskatchewan are so quiet, you can even hear the snowflakes hitting your tent as they fall. If you‘re looking for a monster whitetail, Garden River Outfitters is the place to hunt, and I’ve got the pictures to prove it.
