John's Journal... Entry 16 - Day 3

Click to enlargeWHERE YOU SHOULD SET UP YOUR STAND TO HARVEST A 3-1/2-YEAR-OLD BUCK

EDITOR'S NOTE:

George Mayfield helps hunters bag their dream bucks each day during deer season at The Roost near Aliceville, Alabama. He knows the importance of setting up your tree stand in the best spot to bag a buck.

QUESTION: Where do you set up your stands at The Roost to harvest 3-1/2-year-old bucks?

Click to enlargeANSWER: To see deer and not disrupt their patterns, the best thing to do is to set up your stand away from major travel corridors. Normally a hunter will set up his stand 30 to 50 yards from a major travel corridor. But at The Roost, we set up our stands 150 to 200 yards away from the major trails. Then the hunters won't be close enough to spook the deer from continuing to use those trails.

Contact George Mayfield at The Roost, P.O. Box 509, Aliceville, AL 35442, (205) 373-3147 for more information.
