John's Journal... Entry29 - Day 1

Winner of the 1999 BASS Masters Classic and Angler of the Year on the B.A.S.S. fishing circuit for 1997, Davy Hite of Prosperity, South Carolina, has won more than $1/2 million in tournament fishing. Hite consistently catches bass often more than all the other bass-fishing pros on the circuit.

"I was Angler of the Year because I was able to keep a positive mental attitude all that year. I didn't dwell on letdowns. When I didn't perform well, I got those poor performances out of my mind quickly.

Being second best gave me the incentive to push a little harder and fish more aggressively than I had in past years. Although I didn't win a single tournament in 1996-97, I took seven top-10 finishes and was proud to win the title Angler of the Year. I couldn't have done it without having a positive mental attitude."
