Journal... Entry29 - Day 3 Kevin VanDam: Fish Your Confidence Baits Kevin VanDam of Kalamazoo, Michigan, 1999 B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year, has built one of the most impressive records of any professional fisherman in today's bass-fishing world. VanDam has career winnings of over $1/2 million. "Mental attitude is definitely a major factor in whether or not I catch bass," VanDam commented. "The reason certain people dominate the bass-fishing world every year is that they have good mental attitudes. "I fish the way I like to fish and do what I'm comfortable doing. I don't try and get a lot of information from local people on how to fish a lake when I go fishing. I fish with the techniques and the baits I'm comfortable fishing with that will produce bass for me. When I fish my confidence baits, I know I'm going to catch bass, although I just don't know when the strike will come."
