Journal... Entry29 - Day 4 Larry Nixon: Fish The Way You're Confident Fishing And Jay Yelas: Stay Positive Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Arkansas, the first $1 million man on the B.A.S.S. circuit, has fished 20 BASS Masters Classics. "If you know you're fishing in a place where the bass should be at the time of year that you're fishing, you should have confidence in your ability to catch those bass," Nixon explained. "If you know how to fish under a variety of weather and water conditions and that the lures you've chosen in the past have caught bass, then you should be able to fish with confidence," Nixon said. "I don't attempt to get a lot of information from local people about how to fish a certain lake. I fish the way I'm confident in fishing and the way I've caught bass in the past. When I'm fishing my way, I believe I can catch bass, and I do." Jay Yelas of Tyler, Texas, has won more than $1/2 million fishing for bass and fished in eight BASS Masters Classics. According to Yelas, "My mental attitude is huge about my ability to catch bass. I always try to remain positive and truly believe I can catch bass. I never get excited or stressed-out if I'm having a bad day of fishing. To consistently take bass, you have to have an even temperament, stay positive and believe in your ability to find and catch bass. Like everyone else, I may have a bad morning of fishing and then that afternoon catch a heavy limit of bass in just two hours. I have to stay positive." TOMORROW: WOO DAVES: SLOW YOUR FISHING DOWN |
