:Be Confident

David Fritts of Lexington, North Carolina, has won Angler of the Year and the BASS Masters Classic and has earned more than $1/2 million dollars in fishing the B.A.S.S. tournament circuit.

"I suggest you start off fishing small tournaments until you build the confidence you need in yourself and fishing," Fritts explained. "Don't fish the big tournaments first because your confidence in your ability to catch bass has a lot to do with your ability to attract sponsors.

"Always be willing to learn something new, and work with the press. Since sponsors want to see you in newspaper and magazine articles, you must learn how to talk to the press and how to promote products. You have to catch bass and prove that you can consistently catch bass to attract sponsors. Then you have to be able to help the sponsors sell the products to continue to get sponsor support."
