BLUE BANK RESORT OFFERS HOLIDAY FUN
Yo-Yo Fishing For Catfish
EDITOR'S
NOTE: This holiday season, take your family to
Blue Bank Resort in Tiptonville, Tennessee, for an outdoor experience
they won't forget. You and your family can fish, hunt and bird watch with
some of the greatest guides in the Southeast. Jackie Wayne Van Cleave,
of Samburg, Tennessee, guides for crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish and
ducks at the resort on Reelfoot Lake.
QUESTION: Can you tell me about yo-yo fishing for cats?
VAN CLEAVE: The Yo-Yo is a spring-loaded device that has a string coiled
up on it. You just pull the string out. It has a hook on it that swivels
that you attach to the limb. You set your depth at about 2 feet. When
the catfish bites the hook and pulls down on it, the fish locks the spring
and sets the hook.
QUESTION:
How many cats can you catch in a night, usually?
VAN CLEAVE: If they are running good and feeding, you can catch all you
want -- all you can handle.
QUESTION: Can you catch 100 pounds of catfish?
VAN CLEAVE: You can catch that amount easily.
QUESTION: What size fish can you catch on a Yo-Yo?
VAN CLEAVE: You can catch catfish weighing 3- to 15-pounds each on a Yo-Yo.
QUESTION:
Do you catch channels or blues?
VAN CLEAVE: We mainly catch channel cats.
QUESTION: Is it not uncommon to catch 100 pounds of fish
in a day?
VAN CLEAVE: No.
