John's Journal... Entry 196, Day 5

LARRY NIXON ON BASSING

Larry Nixon's Five Favorite Worm Colors For Fishing For Prespawn Or Spawning Bass

EDITOR'S NOTE: Fifty-one-year-old Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Arkansas has fish professionally since 1976, won 14 B.A.S.S. tournaments and two Angler-of-the-Year titles. He was also the first professional angler to earn more than $1 million in B.A.S.S. winnings.

QUESTION: If you had to pick only five colors for fishing prespawn or spawning bass in the spring, what five colors of worms will you choose?
ANSWER: My No. 1 choice usually will be black with a blue tail. No. 2 is a watermelon seed color. No. 3 will be what I call a green pumpkin. I will select as my No. 4 lure a pumpkin color with a chartreuse tail. And No. 5 will be the Junebug color, which is an old standby color that's productive for catching bass all across the United States.
