Effective Man-Drives for Deer at Any Time
Day 5: Elements of Good Man Driving for Deer
Several elements must come together to make up a good man-drive. The hunters need to:
- Know the location of the deer or which direction or trails they’ll use to escape from any given area. Then standers can set up where they’ll do the most good.
- Let the number of standers and drivers determine the size of the region they drive. If too-few drivers try to drive a large expanse of land, then the hunters may find a man-drive ineffective.
- Use walkie-talkies for two hunters to drive deer toward one another.
- Invade several small heads of woods in a short time with a small group who knows where to hunt. Many times these sportsmen will take more bucks than a large group of hunters trying to cover a bigger area.
